Hello again,
The BIG NEWS is I finally have a recording of my own out. It's a 5-song EP called.... EP#1, and it's a snappy little collection of music that I normally do in a solo setting, when I open for folks mainly. All my life my musical goal has been to back other people up and make them sound good, and I will most definitely continue to do so (assuming somebody hires me), but this is a nice way to begin my own musical journey. There are 4 covers and 1 original tune, and musically I see it as a mixture (or mangling) of lots of classic American music - blues, early jazz, folk, early rock 'n roll. It is not a perfect recording - I believe strongly that to perfect music is to rob it of it's charm, at least for roots music. So, what we have here is a very loose, relaxed, fun recording that I tried hard to add my own personality to. You can hear samples at my new myspace page (www.myspace.com/charleskingarthur.com)
After getting my feet wet with this one I know there will be lots more to come. In the meantime I am only selling this one at shows, so check the gigs page for details. I'll be opening and accompanying Slaid Cleaves during his swing through Virginia in early May, so you should try to make it out to these - it'll be fun.
